Let us explore episode 12 further with our favorites scenes:
GG's Favorite Scene 1: This episode definitely confirmed for me that Seol Doo-Sung, the leader of Hwangbang, is indeed very sinister and obviously using Shin Young Chool's name to gain favors with Shanghai's gang hierarchy. The only reason he wanted the funeral at Seolrak was to show everyone that Jung Tae's dad somehow "belonged" to them, whereas in reality, he was the head figure of Bangsamdong. I loved it when Jung Jae Hwa confronted him about his real intentions and even hinted that he knew the real cause of Shin Young Chool's death, leaving Seol Doo-Sung very nervous but also very angry as he later tells Wang Baek San to get rid of Jung Jae Hwa. All of this means that Jung Tae will have a very difficult time dealing with all the players in the game because he's new to Shanghai and very trusting of the old man whom he thought was his dad's good friend. He will also have Jung Jae Hwa trying to get rid of him for fear of losing Club Shanghai to his hyungnim's son. I hope Jung Tae makes some good friends with some good fighting skills!
MSKHJ: I'm liking Jung Jae Hwa but I really don't wanna get attached to the guy because I see his death coming... T.T He's a smart guy and also funny. I love his English phrases just out of the blue!!! I think that somehow he's gonna help Jung Tae to gain the position his father had and fight both Hwangbang and Il Gook Hwae.
MSKHJ's Favorite Scene 1: We've finally seen a Jung Tae groomed and with his face intact!!!! YAY!!!!!! We also have to thank Ok Ryeon for maintaining it like this!!! LOL Well, in here, Jung Tae has decided to stay in Shanghai to find his father's killer and take revenge but Ok Ryeon is not happy about it. While talking about it he realizes the difficulties that people in Bangsamdong go through. People from there are basically in the middle of two fighting forces and always getting hit by one or the other. Ok Ryeon explains what is the real situation in the street and seeing the police beating up people makes Jung Tae furious. However, Ok Ryeon stops him this time. She's really afraid and thus Jung Tae tries to hold her hand to comfort her but she refuses. This lead us to Ok Ryeon telling him that she went back to Shineuijoo looking for him after running away but he never went back and she didn't have any news of him till a few days ago. All this provoked in her a resentment and clearly tells him not to expect anything from her due to all this. He seems very puzzled by her reaction but I was actually applauding it. It was time for Ok Ryeon to step up and show to everybody that she's not the girl who she used to be and even though we know she still loves him, she has suffered a great deal in the last few years and obviously this has made her change and mature in a way she would have not expected. I also think it's good for Jung Tae to face this kind of challenge with her since his social skills are really not the best ones... I just want to know what he'll do in order to make amends with her. It'll be interesting to see him for once chasing her and not otherwise, if that happens.
JMMB Favorite Scene 1: I loved this scene because well, Gaya is a total badass fighter! Don't mess with her, dude! I'm surprised she didn't pull out her knives and slice Baek-San to pieces but I guess a funeral isn't the place to be pulling out them knives! Gaya may have turned really dark in the last two episodes where she seemed to no longer bleed blood and her heart has turned into stone but at least the one thing that is still intact is her awesome fighting skills. I hope Gaya's heart starts to thaw out again in future episodes because I still want to be able to root for her! I was willing to stick with her character until the end despite how many people she kills as long as she kept the focus on saving JT in her own secret way and find justice for her parents! Mr. Writer, please bring Gaya back from the underworld! I'm counting on you!
GG's Favorite Scene 2: So So's words rang true to Jung Tae as he witnesses countless people coming to pay their respects and saying their final farewells to his dad. Whereas the funeral proceedings at Hwangbang was more of a political gathering, the scene on Bangsamdong Street was very personal and touching. My favorite part is when the kids come up to touch Jung Tae's hand because their parents believe that touching the skin of a great hero (or someone related to him) would cure their illnesses. This seems superstitious to Jung Tae, but he understands after So So explains that these folks can't afford to take their kids to the hospital so this is sort of their last hope for a miracle. The funeral, just like the scene on the street when he first walked into town, really proved to Jung Tae that these people loved his dad for his generosity and righteousness, values that Jung Tae himself possesses. It also allowed him to finally find closure and let go of the anger he held in his heart for so long, which he tells his dad as he says his final farewell to the man who might have been a great father had he been there for his kids just as he had been there for the people of Bangsamdong.
MSKHJ: I'm so happy that he finally could send his father in peace. This guy really needs a break from all the sadness and bad things that happened to him. When he started crying I was really refraining myself from doing so too... Hyun Joong was so convincing!!!!! T.T
MSKHJ's Favorite Scene 2: So So wonders why she's not the chosen one by Jung Tae. I found these two quite amusing when they are together. To me they really look like siblings. Their interactions are in most cases funny and when needed, serious. In this case, So So's reaction when she realized Jung Tae liked Ok Ryeon was very funny. "What do I lack?", she was asking herself!!! LOL I really think Jung Tae will see her much more like a sister so it's gonna make it difficult for her to get some other feelings besides the ones of an older brother for a sister. Not to forget how bad Shin Jung Tae is showing his feelings and so on... So, So-So keep on trying if you want but I'm afraid there's not much you can do about it...! LOL
JMMB's Favorite Scene 2: This scene is during Young Chool's autopsy. The big guy is freakin' hilarious! He reminds me of Jjang Ddol (remember Jung-Tae's best friend back in the day).. . .I actually miss him...at least back then, Jung-Tae had friends. ***sigh*** don't even get me started. Okay. . .Mr. Big Guy started to freak out during the autopsy and well, I don't blame him. I would too! He added a bit of comedic relief and well, darn it we need it. If I don't laugh, I may just cry so I picked this scene to help soothe my broken heart from the loss of all those in this drama who ended up with an untimely demise or departure. . . .chop, chop! Many ended up on the chopping block. . .and I am not happy right now. . .let's leave it as that before I go into a rant!
