[BF Review] BAREFOOT FRIENDS Episode 18

I have one word for you KiakakaKiakaka
While I laughed at him at first? I’m going to go out and say Kim Hyun Joong had one of the best performances of the night. I wonder, how much work the cast themselves had to do with the production of these songs? When Uee, at the top of the show said “I wrote it. I produced it.” My gut instinct was: ummm…..no you didn’t. And my gut is seldom wrong.
The cast did so well with their performances, I was so proud of them–I was even glad to hear Kang Ho-dong’s performance all over again!
Did anyone else think it was super funny that the performances were jam packed with guest singers: Tablo, Epik High, Dynamic Duo, Jung Eun Ji, one of Uee’s band mates (I was so happy to see one of her band-mates supporting her) Juniel, some guy from 2PM, and whoever that older rapper guy was that the crowd went wild for during Jong-shin’s performance and yet, with all those stars the one who was missing? Suzy. The one girl we saw Eun Ji Won and Epik High try so hard to get? I’d say it’s ironic but I’m pretty wary about using that word wrong.
This is the first time we’ve had two completely different challenges in one episode. This next challenge? Hmm… it’s a mixed bag for me. I had so much fun when they were talking about the diets of the stars. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before–but I have this weird thing about loving watching the stars eat. It’s right up there with watching them sleep. No, not in a creepy stalker way, more in a, “Hey, these guys are real people too!” sort of way. I was really disappointed that they only showed Kang Ho Dong and Yoon Shi Yoon’s eating habits. I bet they thought it would be boring if we went through everyone, but not for me!
Maybe it’s that disappointment which colored the rest of the episode for me. I was a little, I hate to say it, bored. It was all: Wow, that lady has a lot of refrigerators. Wow, she has a lot of food. Well, let’s now try the ingredients. Hrm. Maybe it just went on for too long. Although I do have to say, I love the fact that she had personalized cupcakes for the cast to take home with them. Now that’s a crazy over the top touch!
Oh, and I had to laugh at her insistence on everyone using new chopsticks. This is the first time I’ve ever seen double dipping frowned on in Kdrama. When I first started watching it weirded me out, everyone eating from the same bowl, but now it just seems natural!
And let me just say–I miss Eunhyuk! So this means he’s missing 2 challenges? But…but…unfair! Yes, I still have Yoon Shi Yoon. Yes, I still have Kim Hyun Joong. Yes, I still have Eun Ji Won to cheer for. But it’s not the same. On top of that–it looks like Kim Hyun Joong isn’t there for the rest of the cooking challenge! Two favorites down? I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself!
Top 5 Moments.
1)  KHJ performance: As I said at the top–this was so freaking cool! I liked the song, I actually liked the message behind it, and it shows that Kim Hyun Joong is one great performer. I’d actually like to have this song for myself. Kiakaka
2) Yoon Shi Yoon performance. I didn’t see how this was going to work at first. How can you have cutesy Yoon Shi Yoon rapping? Well, first I forgot he’s an actor and second I forgot that a rap song doesn’t have to be fast. When he first started going I squealed because I thought it sounded just like a Tablo song. Which makes sense because Tablo did help produce it and I think Tablo is the king of the slow, thought out rap. And then when he came out and joined him?
Woot!
3) Kang Ho Dong eating. This part of the episode was such a hoot. From seeing the reactions of everyone watching him eat. And eat. And eat.
Upside–this made me feel awesome about my own daily food intake. Downside–the food looked so good! I got a wicked craving for Korean food. I want Kimchi and banchan and jjigae, and… well pretty much anything else. Except that small octopus that Yoon Shi Yoon was eating.
4) Yoon Shi Yoon’s shocked reaction to the moment when Eun Ji Won’s song paused and then started blaring the Superman theme. It’s such a brief second, but makes me laugh so hard!
5) Epik High/Tablo! Nope, I haven’t stopped squeeing every time they come on the screen, from Tablo encouraging Yoon Shi Yoon  before his performance, then actually performing with him, to all of Epik High performing with Eun Ji Won. They need to come out with a new CD, like, yesterday.
Quotes
“I’m Boys Over Flowers who likes soccer videos more than porn.” This had me on the floor with laughter.
“Doesn’t he look like a movie character? Like a character who dies after doing nothing. The main characters friend.” Poor Jong Shin, no one had any respect for his big pimpin’ style.

“Oh, so that’s what he does.” Yoon Shi Yoon for the first time learning what DJ Tukutz brought to the Epik High table.
“That’s for work, that’s not food!”
“You work hard.”
“I think he’s eating my 2 days worth of food.”
“This song is for my grandfather. But I don’t think he’d understand it because it’s too fast.”
“The barefoot friends are supportive because the know how he feels.” I liked this line of narration because it has 2 meanings. First, the relief Kim Hyun Joong feels for having the performance be over and secondly or the bigger meaning, as his song was about wanting to just have a normal life even though he’s a star. I’m not sure if they meant it both ways, but that’s what I got out of it. And it just made me like him more. (Like that was a stretch…)
