SJT’s WORLD : The Case of the Missing Body EP 11

Jung Tae’s resentment towards his father did not easily go away even as he heard about his community development efforts. In his mind and heart still is ‘you took care of others’ welfare but not us’.
He carried on even as he stared at his father’s remains at the morgue earning the scathing remarks of Jung Jae. Nor even the tearful recollections of OK Ryeon regarding her mother’s death moved him enough. Not until he went through his father’s scant belongings that realization and grief took over him. He saw his own letter when he was a kid tucked in his wallet, their almost faded picture the older Shin must have looked at more than a hundred times. He also saw his bank passbook containing his savings (for them). What if he knew that his father had wanted to go home to them several times before but couldn’t shake off his duty to the independence movement.

Getting rid of that resentment now, going to the funeral is not the end but just the beginning. He doesn’t know yet that his father’s body supposedly to be in a funeral in Hwangbang’s place is actually missing.

Three groups wanted Shin Young Chol’s body for their own agenda. The Hwangbang group to secure Club Shanghai with Jung Tae on board, Gaya’s group as symbol they have defeated the movement and Jung Jae so Bangsamtong remain in his hands. It is power struggle in Shanghai. The power that can be conferred through public presentation of the body.

It was So-so who sarcastically asked Jung Tae if he was really the son for allowing his father’s body to be in Hwangbang when it isn’t accessible to the people who wanted to pay their last respect. When she left, written all over his face is a burgeoning realization.

Who succeeded in snatching the body? It wasn’t the Hwangbang who were surprised to find another corpse in the wooden coffin. Apparently, Wang Baek’s attention and time were diverted to fighting Jung Jae and Yamamoto.

Notes :

The episodes flew by so fast again. I can withstand it, no sweat, if KBS do a back to back showing like what they’ve done to Full Sun.

I wrote an article ” I Am My Father’s Son” in anticipation the storyline will go this way. But now it seemed it is much more than that. IG’s political tone is becoming an important factor.

Shin Young Chol’s death is a personal issue for Jung Tae. It will not be long that his personal becomes political as well.

It will be a dynamic pull and push for Jung Tae. He will pull all the information he needs to fully grasp his situation and the push towards fulfilling his ultimate purpose and journey in this drama.

As for his love life that went on hold, it looks like it is going to be rekindled with his words “I’ve not forgotten about you all this time”. Yet Ok Ryeon looked away when he said that. Let us see if the next episodes will tell us if it was only a temporary disaffection or a case of absence makes the heart grow fonder. But she was worried (No kiss? That could have easily revive him not that IV ) when he fainted and prepared his hot bath. Is that love or force of habit?

As for Jung Tae’s abs that was quickly shown while dressing up (ala Jihoo in BOF)and the almost shower scene that didn’t materialize, there might be better luck for all next time.
